Jharkhand’s elections will be conducted in two phases, on November 13 and November 20. The term of Maharashtra’s 288-member Assembly will end in November 2024, while Jharkhand’s 81-member Assembly will conclude its term on January 5, 2025.

Maharashtra: Key Political Players
In Maharashtra, the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP and Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP, is confident about retaining power. Meanwhile, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, consisting of the Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP, is determined to reclaim control of the state.

Jharkhand: Ruling Coalition vs Opposition
In Jharkhand, the ruling alliance led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), along with its partners, is aiming for a second term in office. On the other hand, the BJP-led opposition is focused on winning back power in the tribal-majority state. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has confirmed that the JMM-led alliance will contest all 81 Assembly seats.
