Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday said ‘Atamnirbharta’ is the mindset to deal with global turbulence.
Speaking at a recent FAITH (Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality) Conclave, the minister said, “The messaging of India to the world is clearly stronger, but it is paralleled by also making traveling in India much easier.” The Minister detailed the rising reputation of India as a travel destination while addressing the Conclave 2025.
The conclave brought together national government and corporate leaders from India’s tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors to establish time-bound milestones for Indian tourism throughout 2030. These milestones are intended to serve as foundational steps toward the Vision 2047 of a Viksit Bharat, as envisioned by the Prime Minister of India.
He said, “…it is essential in times of unpredictability to stand firmly on our own feet. Atmanirbharta is, of course, the mindset to deal with global turbulence. But it is also the basis to strengthen our self-confidence, to increase our resilience, and to lay the foundation for Viksit Bharat.”
He further highlighted how the implementation of e-visas has made visiting India significantly easier and more pleasant for tourists. “The messaging of India to the world is clearly stronger, but it is paralleled by also making traveling in India much easier. Our airports have doubled in the last decade,” he said.
Emphasizing cultural significance and India’s position in global tourism, Jaishankar also pointed out that even Gabbar Singh’s hideout, which was made famous in Indian cinema, can now be visited, with a resort developed in the area.
