Two men were chargesheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for illegal human trafficking via the ‘Dunki route’ from India to the United States, officials said.
According to PTI, officials stated that two men-Sunny, a native of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, and Shubham Sandhal, a resident of Peeragardhi in Delhi- have been named in the chargesheet filed in the NIA court, Mohali.
Both the accused have been charged with illegal trafficking and cheating.
Sunny and Shubham were arrested in July this year after the main accused, Gagandeep Singh alias Goldy, was arrested from Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area.
Initially, the case was registered by the Punjab Police in February. In a released statement, the central agency said that the NIA, which took over the case from the Punjab Police in March this year, found during investigation that Sunny was a ‘donkar’ actively involved in human trafficking via the ‘dunki’ route.
NIA files fresh chargesheet against four more accused in Chhattisgarh Naxal case
In a separate incident, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a fresh chargesheet against four additional individuals in connection with a case involving the propagation of the outlawed Naxal group’s violent agenda in Chhattisgarh, officials said.
Three of the chargesheeted accused — Sunita Potam, Shankar Muchaki, and Dashrath alias Dasru Modiyam held positions in the Moolwasi Bachao Manch (MBM), a Maoist-affiliated front outfit that was outlawed by the Chhattisgarh government in October last year under the Special Public Security Act, 2005. The fourth individual, Mallesh Kunjam, was part of the Maoists’ armed wing and remains on the run.
NIA investigation reveals that all four accused were involved in activities like collection, storage and disbursal of naxal funds.
