Drunk Army Officer Rams Car Into Crowd In Nagpur, Injures 25–30; Locals Beat Him After Crash

A horrific video of the incident has emerged, in which it can be seen that locals rushed to the overturned car, pulled Waghmare out and beat him up in anger.

A shocking incident has come to light from Nagpur, Maharashtra, where a 40-year-old army officer, allegedly in an inebriated condition, rammed his car into a crowd, injuring around 25 to 30 people. The accused officer has been identified as Harshpal Mahadev Waghmare, who serves in the Indian Army and was on a four-day leave from Assam when the incident occurred.

According to a report by NDTV, Waghmare was heading towards Hamlapuri via Durga Chowk at around 8:30 pm on Sunday. In the Nagardhan area, he lost control while driving at a high speed, hitting dozens of pedestrians. The car went out of control, overturned, and fell into a roadside drain.

A horrific video of the incident has emerged, in which it can be seen that locals rushed to the overturned car, pulled Waghmare out, and beat him up in anger. Waghmare was seen with bruises and blood on his face, and he was trying to escape from the angry mob.

Ramtek police reached the spot, detained the officer, and took him to a hospital for treatment. Police said he will undergo a medical test to confirm alcohol consumption.
