A day after the 20-year old woman was allegedly targeted with the acid near Delhi University’s Laxmi Bai college, her father was held by the Delhi Police in a rape case. He was taken into custody from Sangam Vihar for questioning, where he confessed to fabricating the acid attack with a toilet cleaner and raping the wife of the man his daughter accused of throwing “acid” at her. According to the police, the case was for ‘settling scores.’
Police also said that he admitted to falsely accusing his neighbour of involvement in the acid attack. He admitted that her daughter was carrying toilet cleaner from home. She poured it on her hands herself. His confession came hours after the accused’s wife filed a case against the girl’s father for rape.

Police said that two days before the incident, the acquaintance’s wife had complained to the victim’s father, accusing him of sexual harassment and blackmail during her employment in his factory between 2021 and 2024. A case in this regard was registered at the Bhalswa Dairy police station.”Her (victim’s) father, who was absconding, has now been taken into custody for questioning,” the police said.
After the police arrested the accused, the girl’s father confessed that the whole incident of the acid attack on his daughter was fabricated to settle the scores with the accused and his family. During questioning, the man allegedly told investigators that the acid attack story was to falsely implicate the woman’s husband and his two relatives, all of whom were involved in legal and personal disputes with him.
CCTV Footage
Officials said that CCTV footage from the day of the incident showed the complainant leaving her home in Mukandpur on a scooty driven by her brother, who dropped her near the Ashok Vihar area before she continued in an e-rickshaw.
Police said the reason her brother did not drop her off at the college gate after driving her all the way from Mukundpur to Ashok Vihar is being examined. The brother has also become unavailable and is not joining the investigation.
