New Delhi: Following a backlash over veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s controversial comments on 2016 Surgical Strike, the Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi made a statement clarifying the party’s position.
He stated that the opinions of Digvijay Singh was his own which does not represent the Congress party’s stand. Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said, “We do not appreciate Digvijaya Singh’s personal views. His views are outlying views. We are absolutely clear that the Armed Forces do their job exceptionally well and they do not need to provide proof of that.”
Gandhi mentioned that the views of party is above the opinions of former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh.

Meanwhile, hours later of the contorversial comments, General Secretary in-charge Communications of Congress Jairam Ramesh took to the Twitter to say that it’s their “personal views.”

“The views expressed by senior leader Digvijaya Singh are his own and do not reflect the position of Congress. Surgical strikes were carried out before 2014 by the UPA government. Congress has supported and will continue to support all military actions that are in the national interest,” he tweeted.
Digvijay Singh was addressing a rally in Jammu druing the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra where he raised questions over the Pulwama Attack, saying that there is no proof if the Indian Army carried surgical strike or not.
“They talk about the surgical strike. That we killed so many people. But there is no proof. Keval jhoot ka pulinda se yah raj kar rahe hain (They are peddling a bundle of lies),” he said.
