Opposition meeting: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday asked not to call them “Opposition” saying that we too are patriotic and hails “Bharat Mata.”
Addressing media post the crucial Opposition meeting, Banerjee said, “We are united, we will fight unitedly…The history started from here, BJP wants that history should be changed. And we want history should be saved from Bihar. Our objective is to speak against this fascist government.”
Mamata’s remark on the opposition meeting being held in Patna as the city represents Jayaprakash Narayan’s call for a total revolution in 1974 that toppled Indira Gandhi’s majority government.
The West Bengal CM hit out at the Narendra Modi-led Centre saying that they have made Raj Bhavan an alternative government in the state. She said they did not consult the local government and went on to declare foundation day of the state.
She said the Centre do anything they desire as they use investigative agencies Enforcement Directorate (ED) against those who speak against them and control media entirely.

Banerjee added that but the Centre does not care about attrocities against women, dalits and halts release of funds.
Next meeting in July
After the successful meeting on Friday, the Opposition is scheduled to meet in July but the date has to be decided yet.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said the next meeting will be held in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla where they will decide the next move regarding strengthening the Opposition against Narendra Modi-led central government.
