Donald Trump Accepts PM Modi’s Invitation for QUAD Summit In India, Leaders Hold 35-Minute Call

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the leaders were scheduled to meet on the sidelines of G7 Summit, but as Trump left early, the meeting couldn’t take place.

United States President Donald Trump will be visiting India for the upcoming meeting of Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD). Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the news on Wednesday, stating Prime Minister Narendra Modi had extended invitation to Trump to visit India. Trump has accepted the invitation and is excited about his visit to India. Notably, the Quad Leaders’ Summit 2025 will be hosted by India.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “For the next meeting of Quad, PM Modi invited President Trump to India. While accepting the invitation, President Trump said that he is excited to come to India.”

Misri stated that PM Modi was asked by Trump, whether he would stop in the US while returning from Canada. However, due to prior commitments, PM Modi expressed his inability to stop in US.

“President Trump asked PM Modi if he would stop in the US while returning from Canada. Due to prior commitments, PM Modi expressed his inability to do so. Both leaders decided that they will try to meet in near future,” added Misri.

Leaders Hold 35-Minute Call

Foreign Secretary further stated that the leaders were scheduled to meet on the sidelines of G7 Summit, but as Trump left early, the meeting couldn’t take place. He mentioned that PM Modi and Trump exchanged words in a telephonic conversation that lasted for almost 35 minutes.

“PM Modi and President Trump were scheduled to meet on the sidelines of G7 Summit. President Trump had to return to the US early, due to which this meeting could not take place. After this, at the request of President Trump, today both leaders spoke over the phone. They spoke for almost 35 minutes. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack on 22nd April, President Trump had spoken with PM Modi over phone and expressed condolences and had also expressed support in fight against terrorism. This was the first time they were speaking after that. So, PM Modi spoke with President Trump in detail on Operation Sindoor,” Misri said.
