Domestic air passenger traffic crossed 5 lakh mark on Sunday, making a new record. This is for the first time that domestic air had this much passenger traffic.
According to the latest data from civil aviation ministey the number of flight departed was 3,173. It carried 5, 05,412 passengers on November 17, 2024. This shows the demand of air travel during this festive and wedding season.
This is for the first time that domestic airlines crossed mark of 5 lakh in a day. The Vice President, Air Category at Cleartrip stated that, “”The high pax movement is largely backed by robust festive demand and the start of the wedding season. We expect strong demand to continue in the winter season.”
He said that the domestic flights have witnessed the strong demand during this festive season.

According to reports, the On-Time-Performance of the airlines got impacted in these days due to several factors. On Sunday, November 17 the On-Time Performance of Indigo airlines was 74.2%. The OTP of Alliance air was 71% and Akasa airlines was 67.6%. Whereas, the OTP of SpiceJet was seen 66.1% and Air India with 57.1%.
In the month of October the aviation watchdog DGCA mentioned that the Indian airlines will fly 25,007 planes every week and it will fly from 124 airports in winter.
The increase in number of flights is seen 3% more than 24,275 flight departures every week, which departed from 125 airports in the summer.
