Amethi (Uttar Pradesh): An elderly man reached Amethi on ‘Sampoorna Samadhan Divas’ with his issues requesting for the solutions. Meanwhile, the scenario of him being presented in front of the officials was captured by a journalist that is taking rounds on the internet attracting severe criticism.
The social media users condemned the officials as a group of latter sat on chairs, meanwhile an elderly man find space on floor to sit.

Hours later the picture went viral and tweets condemning the scenario started pouring in, a government fact check website made the clarification saying it was man’s own will to sit on the floor. However, the management, then, offered him a chair.
“This viral picture does not reflect the reality,” said the fact check website while clarifying the scenario.

However, even if the man willingly sat on the floor, it represents the deep-rooted inferiority complex among underprivileged class. These people often find comfort on grounds rather than demanding for proper arrangements in the presence of ‘Sarkari Babus’.
Unfortunately, this is quite prevalent in India. A section of the society living at the bottom of the pyramid are completely ignorant of their basic rights. As a result of this, they hardly get fair treatment especially in government offices. A lot of people face such situation on a daily basis but they do not get lucky enough to feature in a picture that exposes reality.
People who travel miles to reach these government offices are still deprived of justice.
Coming back to the clarification by the DM, even if the man was offered ‘the chair’ later, still the question remains why no arrangements were already made for a pre-scheduled people’s assembly. On looking closely in the picture, there is hardly any chair or sitting arrangements for the ones who will appear to the gathering with their issues.
