Doda Gunfight: Four Indian Army soldiers, including an officer, who were critically injured during a confrontation with terrorists on Monday night, have died in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda, officials reported to news agency PTI.

The encounter began around 7:45 pm after Rashtriya Rifles troops and the J&K Police Special Operations Group launched a joint search operation in the Desa forest’s Dhari Gote Urarbagi area.
Major Brijesh Thappa of 10 RR, recently promoted, was one of four Indian Army soldiers killed in the gunfight, sources informed.
Officials reported that four Army personnel, including the officer, and a police officer were injured during the initial exchange of fire with terrorists, which lasted over 20 minutes.
The injured were rushed to the hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries, according to officials.
The Indian Army stated that additional troops were deployed in the area, and the operation was ongoing at the time of the latest reports.

Following a brief exchange of fire, the terrorists attempted to flee but were pursued by courageous troops under an officer’s command. Despite challenging terrain and dense foliage, another confrontation erupted in the woods around 9 pm, officials reported.
‘Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by the Indian Army and JKP was underway in the northern area of Doda. Contact was made with terrorists tonight around 2100 hours, leading to a significant firefight,’ stated the White Knights Corps in a Monday night update on X.

‘Preliminary reports indicate injuries among our personnel. Additional forces have been deployed to the region as operations continue,’ the White Knights Corps added.
Earlier in the day, the Jammu and Kashmir Police discovered old, rusted arms and ammunition at a terrorist hideout in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, the recovery during the search and cordon operation in the Dalantop area of Shikari included 30 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, one AK-47 rifle magazine, and one HE-36 hand grenade, all of which were described as old and rusted.
