Do This or Your Aadhaar Will Be Deactivated: Step-by-Step Guide to Link Aadhaar with PAN Card

A slew of new rules notified by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for Aadhaar cards has now made it mandatory to link your PAN card with Aadhaar before December 31, 2025. Failing to do so could lead to the deactivation of your PAN card from January 1, 2026.

How to Link Your PAN Card to Aadhaar

1. Visit the official Income Tax e-Filing portal by clicking on this link – [click here].
2. Click on “Link Aadhaar” in the left-hand side panel.
3. Enter your PAN number and Aadhaar number, then click Validate to link your PAN with your Aadhaar.

That’s it! You will have successfully linked your PAN card with your Aadhaar card.

How to Check Your Aadhaar–PAN Link Status on the Income Tax Portal

1. Visit the Income Tax e-Filing portal – [click here].
2. Click on “Link Aadhaar Status.”
3. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar details.
4. Click View Link Aadhaar Status to check whether your PAN and Aadhaar are linked.

How to Check Aadhaar–PAN Link Status via SMS

If you don’t have time to visit the website, you can also check the status of your Aadhaar–PAN link through SMS.

1. Type the following message:
   UIDPAN<12-digit Aadhaar><10-digit PAN>
2. Send the text to 567678 or 56161.

You will receive a confirmation message about the status of your Aadhaar–PAN link.If you are using the SMS method, make sure your mobile number is registered with your Aadhaar and PAN. This is a mandatory step to prevent the deactivation of your PAN.

The deadline for Aadhaar–PAN linking is December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM. After this, your PAN will be deactivated from January 1, 2026, as the new year begins.
