Shivakumar addressed reporters in Bengaluru, affirming their vigilance over the situation and indicating that their party nominees had provided information about those in contact prior to the result declaration.

In 2002, during a no-confidence motion against Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, he safeguarded the Congress MLAs, housing them in a Bengaluru resort to prevent opposition interference and secured the government’s position.
