Diya Kumari, Prem Chand Bairwa Picked As Deputy CMs Of Rajasthan

Following the announcement of Bhajanlal Sharma as the chief minister of Rajasthan, the BJP has also announced two deputy chief ministers for the state, namely Diya Kumari, Prem Chand Bairwa.

Who is Diya Kumari?

Diya Kumari is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the current Lok Sabha member from Rajsamand. In the 2013 Rajasthan Assembly Election, she secured victory in the Sawai Madhopur constituency by defeating heavyweight leader Kirodi Lal Meena with a margin of 7,532 votes.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, Diya Kumari emerged victorious by defeating Congress candidate Devkinandan Kaka with a substantial margin of 5,51,916 votes. For the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly Election in 2023, she is contesting from Vidhyadhar Nagar against Congress candidate Sitaram Agarwal.

Who is Prem Chand Bairwa?

Prem Chand Bairwa is the incumbent BJP MLA from the Dudu constituency in Rajasthan. In the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly Election, Bairwa secured victory by defeating Congress candidate Babulal Nagar with a margin of 35,743 votes.

Previously, in the 2013 elections, Prem Chand Bairwa won the Dudu constituency by defeating Congress candidate Hazari Lal Nagar with a margin of 33,720 votes. However, in 2018, he faced defeat against Congress candidate Babu Lal Nagar, with a margin of 14,779 votes.

During the meeting, the central observers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Vice President Saroj Pandey, National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, and Union Minister Pralahd Joshi, discussed the selection of Diya Singh and Prem Chand Bairwa as the two Deputy Chief Ministers.

When questioned about the potential candidates for the chief minister’s post, party leaders emphasized that the decision of the high command would be accepted by all. The BJP secured 115 seats out of the 199 that went to polls, with polling postponed in one constituency due to the death of a candidate.
