New Delhi: Two people were killed while a young boy sustained injuries in a shooting incident on Diwali night in Bihari Colony, Shahdara, Delhi police reported. The tragic incident was captured on CCTV.
The deceased have been identified as Akash (40) and his 16 year old nephew Rishab. Akash’s 10-year-old son, Krish, was also injured in the incident.

Suspect Nabbed: Personal Grudge Behind The Attack
Police said that in total, five bullets were fired. CCTV footage helped identify a suspect and a minor has been detained for questioning. Unknown personal grudge is the cause of the incident according to police.
“We received a call around 8:30 pm yesterday regarding a firing incident that occurred in Bihari Colony. Upon arrival, it was found that Akash and his nephew Rishab were fatally shot, and Krish was grievously injured. Preliminary investigation suggests five rounds were fired,” said Prashant Gautam, DCP Shahdara.

Accounts Given by Family Members
Akash’s mother identified a man named Lakshay who visited their residence for a few days regularly. She recalled that Lakshay came to her on Diwali with sweets, and shortly afterwards, she heard gunshots.
“Lakshay had been coming by for the past few days. Yesterday he came home bearing a box of sweets for us. When my son was outside preparing to burst firecrackers, I heard some shootings and saw that the son shot,” she added.
Akash’s brother who is also a deceased teenager Rishab’s father, Yogesh, said that Akash had an issue involving money with a person. “The incident occurred around 7:30-8:00 pm. My brother and nephew were shot by someone on a two-wheeler “My brother had a past financial disagreement.” he added.

The investigation is still underway, the police are examining the CCTV footage of the event and questioning the detained suspect.
