Diwali 2025: The Five-day Diwali festivities have begun in India, with Dhanteras celebrated on Saturday, October 18. The celebration will continue into the second day which will be observed as Chhoti Diwali. During the five days, several rituals are followed and along with Goddess Lakshmi, various other Gods and Goddesses are worshipped.
Chhoti Diwali
Chhoti Diwali, also known as Naraka Chaturdashi, is celebrated a day before the main Diwali festival. It marks the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura, symbolising the triumph of good over evil. People light diyas, decorate their homes, and burst a few firecrackers as a prelude to the grand celebrations of Diwali. The day is also considered auspicious for cleaning and decorating the house to welcome Goddess Lakshmi the next day. Narak Chaturdashi day is also known as Choti Diwali, Roop Chaturdashi and Roop Chaudas.
Chhoti Diwali: Narak Chaturdashi Date
This year, according to Drik Panchang, Narak Chaturdashi or Choti Diwali will be celebrated on Monday, October 20.
