In a surprising turn of events, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh’s marriage has caused a stir in the political landscape of West Bengal. The 61-year-old former Member of Parliament (MP) and ex-MLA tied the knot with 50-year-old Rinku Majumdar, making headlines as the two exchanged vows. The couple’s wedding ceremony took place on Friday at Ghosh’s residence in New Town, Kolkata, where they exchanged vows, marking the beginning of their marital journey.
For years, there were rumours about the relationship between Dilip Ghosh and Rinku Majumdar, but nothing substantial ever emerged due to the lack of proof. The news of their marriage became public on Thursday, and just a day later, the wedding took place.
How Did They Meet?
The couple’s journey began in 2021, when Dilip Ghosh, out on his morning walk in Kolkata’s Eco Park, met Rinku Majumdar. Their chance encounter blossomed into a friendship that later turned into a partnership. Rinku, eventually joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under his guidance. She became highly active within the party and quickly rose through the ranks. Rinku took on a major role within the BJP Women’s Wing and also held significant positions in four districts.
Rinku Majumdar, is a divorcee, and lives with her child and mother. She married Dilip Ghosh with her mother’s consent, solidifying the bond they had nurtured over time.
Dilip Ghosh’s Political Journey
Dilip Ghosh has had a notable political career. He joined the BJP in 2015 after being an active pracharak (campaigner) for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Soon after, he became the West Bengal BJP President in December 2015. Ghosh made his mark in 2016 by winning the assembly elections from the Kharagpur constituency. Later, in 2019, he was elected as the Member of Parliament from the Medinipur constituency.
However, Ghosh’s political career faced a setback in 2024 when he contested from the Durgapur seat in the Lok Sabha elections but lost. Despite this, Ghosh remains a prominent figure in the political landscape of West Bengal.
