Devendra Fadnavis To Be The Next Maharashtra CM, To Take Oath On December 5

Devendra Fadnavis is set to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on December 5, 2024, following the BJP-led coalition's significant electoral victory.

Devendra Fadnavis has been unanimously elected as the leader of the Maharashtra BJP Legislative Party, paving the way for his return as Chief Minister. This decision was reached during a crucial meeting held at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, where party members expressed their support for Fadnavis, recognizing his leadership capabilities and experience.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan and is expected to be a grand event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, around 2,000 VVIPs, and approximately 40,000 supporters. Special arrangements have been made to accommodate both supporters and dignitaries, with the event being broadcast live across the state.

Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressed his heartfelt thanks to voters for the remarkable success of the Mahayuti alliance in the recent state assembly elections. He attributed this historic victory to the leadership of former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”We have conducted a historic election under Devendra Fadnavis’s guidance, securing a strong mandate for Mahayuti. Our commitment is to elevate Maharashtra to the top state in the country with the support of PM Modi,” Bawankule stated.

Meanwhile, Celebrations erupted outside the residence of BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis in Nagpur following his unanimous election as the Leader of the Maharashtra BJP Legislative Party.

The allocation of cabinet positions among the coalition partners is currently under discussion. The BJP is likely to retain key portfolios such as Home and Revenue, while Shiv Sena is expected to secure around 12 ministries including Urban Development. The NCP is anticipated to receive 9-10 ministries, potentially including Finance and Deputy Speaker roles.

Fadnavis’s election as the leader of the BJP’s legislative party was confirmed during a meeting held earlier today. His return marks his third term as Chief Minister, reflecting his significant influence within the party and the state.

As preparations for the ceremony continue, it is clear that this new government aims to establish a stable administration following recent political turbulence in Maharashtra.
