New Delhi: Haryana's Nuh district was reeling under the consequences of violence that broke out on July 31 during a clash between two communities during a religious rally carried out by the Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Amid that, the VHP has announced another "Shobha Yatra" on August 28 even as the local administration denied permission to that. In response to that, VHP leader Dr Surendra Jain said there was no need to obtain permission for a religious rally. He said the administration usually came forward when religious rallies took place to ensure safety and support. Jain said the same will be the case this time.

The VHP leader added that the "Brijmandal Jalabhishek Yatra" was important for the Hindu community as it would be the last Monday of the holy days of "Savan." He urged people of the Hindu community to take out the rally and perform "Jal Abhishek" in nearby temples.

Administration Takes Measures 

Fearing a repeat of the same communal violence that had spread to nearby Faridabad and Gurugram, the administration has beefed up the security by imposing Section 144 in Nuh district till August 28 and took other measures. The Manohar lal Khattar-led Haryana government has also directed to shut down the internet and bulk SMS services in the area.

Those who will be joining the rally will not be allowed to carry any weapon including licensed firearms, axes and the likes.

Permission Denied 

In a meeting attended by senior police officers of Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh, it was concluded that the VHP would not be allowed to carry out any procession, especially keeping in mind the G20 Sherpa Group meeting. The event is scheduled to take place in communally-charged Nuh district during 3-7 September. Earlier in July, six including two home guards and a cleric were killed in the communal violence that broke out during the procession.
