Demise of Karni Sena Founder: Karni Sena founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi on Monday late night passed away at the age of 68. He breathed his last at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. (Demise of Karni Sena Founder) His last rites will be performed on Tuesday (March 14 )at 2:15 pm at his native village Nagaur.
Lokendra Singh Kalvi was undergoing treatment for a long time after he had a brain stroke. SMS Hospital Superintendent Dr. Achal Sharma said that he was undergoing treatment at the hospital since June 2022 after a brain stroke.

Lokendra Singh Kalvi was the founder patron of Karni Sena. The Jaipur-based outfit hit the headlines when its members beat up director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the sets of his film Padmavati in 2018. The idea behind the formation of Karni Sena was to preserve the cultural core of their community.

Lokendra Singh Kalvi was the son of former Rajasthan minister Kalyan Singh Kalvi. Kalyan Singh Kalvi was the agriculture minister in Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s government. Lokendra Singh Kalvi had joined the Congress in 2008 in the hope of getting a ticket but the party did not field him. Kalvi had joined hands with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Karni Sena was the brainchild of Lokendra Singh Kalvi, who along with BJP rebel leader Devi Singh Bhati formed a Social Justice Forum. The Forum made a jump into mainstream politics by contesting the 2003 Rajasthan Assembly elections.
Karni Sena organised massive protests against Ashutosh Gowariker’s film Jodhaa Akbar in 2008. Jodha-Akbar could not be released in Rajasthan due to protests.
