An eight-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a delivery boy in Gurugram on Wednesday, police said adding that the minor was kidnapped when she was going to attend Kanjak ritual, a Hindu religious festival.
The incident took place around five kilometres away from the house and the minor was found unconscious 20 hours after the incident. Five teams were formed to nab the suspect.
According to the police, a man, who lives in the Sector 93 Choki area, went to the police station at 8:30 pm on Wednesday and lodged a complaint. He said that his daughter had left the house at 11 am to attend the Kanjak ritual but had not returned.
After the officials were informed, five teams of police were established. A case of abduction had been filed that same evening, and nearby residents were interviewed. While interviewing the nearby residents, it was discovered that a young man on a green scooter was with the girl.
POCSO Case Registered
The police searched the area and reviewed the CCTV footage throughout the night. At around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, the girl was discovered unconscious at the crime scene in Sector 95, which was five kilometers from her home. The girl was in critical condition and was quickly transferred to the hospital. The medical examination revealed that the girl had suffered rape and assault. On this basis, a case was registered under Section 6 of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and other sections.
Criminal Record Found Of Accused
According to ACP West, Abhilakshya Joshi, after the girl was found, police took the CCTV footage from the neighbourhood, identified and traced the 21-year-old suspect who works as a delivery boy for a private company.
Police interrogation indicated that the suspect lured the girl on Wednesday afternoon with the pretext of providing her food outside a house. Once he abducted her, it was reported, he sexually assaulted the girl after which he fled back to where he found her. During questioning, the suspect also told police that prior to abducting this girl, the same day he had picked two other children from the neighbourhood, but released those prior to taking the eight-year-old he assaulted.
