Delhi: Delhiites on Saturday gets respite from the bone chilling cold wave conditions as the minimum temperature of the capital at 5:30 am settled at 10 degrees Celsius, one degree above the average for the season, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Visibility Status and Temperature Readings

As per the IMD, Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Palam Airport reported visibility of 1100 meters, indicating relatively clear conditions. “There are no reports of dense fog during the night at IGI, contributing to improved visibility,” it said.

Temperature Trends in Delhi:

The temperature at Palam observatory was recorded 9.8°C, showing a slight increase of 1.4°C in the last 24 hours, while Safdarjung observatory, the base station reflected a temperature of 10.0°C, with a 1.0°C increase over the same period, IMD stated.

Visibility Readings:

Punjab: Amritsar reports a visibility of 600 meters, while Patiala and Ambala record 200 meters each.

West Rajasthan: Churu reports a visibility of 500 meters.

Haryana – Chandigarh: Ambala records a visibility of 200 meters.

Delhi: Palam Airport shows a visibility of 1100 meters, while Safdarjung reports 500 meters.

Uttar Pradesh: Jhansi records a visibility of 200 meters.

Bihar: Purnea and Gaya report extremely low visibility, with readings of 25 meters each.

Madhya Pradesh: Satna records a visibility of 50 meters.

Delhi’s Peak Power Demand Reaches Record Amidst Cold Day Conditions On Friday

Delhi witnessed an unprecedented peak power demand, reaching a record 5,798 megawatts (MW) at 10:20 am on Friday. This surge in demand coincided with the city experiencing a ‘cold day,’ marked by a maximum temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius—five notches below the normal range. The minimum temperature settled at 7.1 degrees Celsius, just one notch below the normal.
