Delhi Weather Forecast: Scorching Week Ahead, Heatwave Alert Issued

Delhi is set to experience a scorching week ahead with a heatwave alert issued. The weather forecast indicates consistently sunny conditions from Tuesday, April 15, 2025, through Sunday, April 20, 2025, with temperatures already reaching around 28°C (83°F) early in the morning.

As Delhi-NCR heads into the second half of April, we can expect a noticeable increase in temperatures, and more importantly the possibility of heatwave conditions, between April 16 and 18. Expect hot and dry conditions with temperatures up to 40°C before relief comes on April 19 with the help of a Western Disturbance. Here is an analysis of the weather, forecast for the week, and tips to stay safe during the heatwave.

Delhi-NCR Weather

Gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 03-04°C likely till 18th April. Heat wave conditions are likely during 16th -18th April. Under the influence of a Western Disturbance, maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4°C from 19th April onwards.

Delhi Heatwave

Delhi is expected to begin the day on April 16 under mainly clear skies which will start becoming partly cloudy by the evening. Heatwave conditions are predicted to prevail in isolated regions. Maximum temperatures will remain in the high range of 39°C to 40°C and minimums between 23°C to 25°C.

Precautionary Measures

1. Avoid going out in the sun, especially between 12.00 noon and 3.00 p.m.

2. Drink sufficient water and as often as possible, even if not thirsty

3. Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose, and porous cotton clothes. Use protective goggles, umbrella/hat, shoes or chappals while going out in the sun.

4. Avoid strenuous activities when the outside temperature is high. Avoid working outside between 12 noon and 3 p.m.

5. While travelling, carry water with you.

Past Weather

There has been rise in minimum and maximum temperatures upto 02°C over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 36 to 37 °C and 20 to 23 °C respectively.

The minimum and maximum temperatures were near normal at most places. Mainly clear sky conditions with predominant surface wind from the southeast direction with wind speeds less than 08 to 12 kmph prevailed during the past 24 hours. Mainly clear sky conditions with wind speed less than 10 kmph from the southeast direction prevailed over the region in the forenoon today.
