The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an extensive traffic advisory for Friday, warning commuters of major restrictions and diversions across central Delhi. The advisory, shared on the Delhi Traffic Police’s official X handle, urges the public to avoid several busy stretches between 9:00 AM and 12:00 noon due to administrative requirements linked to high-level movement in the city.

Officials have stated that traffic movement will be regulated across several high-density corridors, including W Point, A Point, ITO Chowk, BSZ Marg, Delhi Gate, JLN Marg, Rajghat Crossing, Shanti Van Crossing, Hanuman Setu–Y Point, and parts of the Ring Road near central Delhi. Areas around Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, Saleem Garh Flyover By-Pass, the Pragati Maidan Tunnel, Vikas Marg, and IP Marg will also experience diversions.

Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes during the restricted hours to avoid delays and congestion.

Parking Restrictions Announced

Along with route diversions, strict parking rules have been issued for several key stretches. Parking will be allowed only in designated areas, while it will be completely prohibited at:

  • Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (JLN Marg)
  • Ring Road between Hanuman Setu, Shanti Van, Rajghat, IP Flyover, Pragati Maidan Tunnel, and Nishad Raj Marg

The Traffic Police has warned that illegally parked vehicles will be towed away and prosecuted. People traveling to central Delhi have been urged to plan their trips in advance and stay updated through Delhi Traffic Police’s official social media channels.

Putin’s Arrival Drives Security Arrangements

The heavy restrictions come as Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi on Thursday for a two-day state visit. This visit marks Putin’s first trip to India since 2021 and carries significant diplomatic weight, especially amid Russia’s ongoing tensions with Western nations.

In a rare gesture breaking traditional protocol, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally received Putin at the Delhi Airport, reflecting the strong and longstanding strategic ties between the two nations. Putin was given a ceremonial welcome upon arrival.

Talks Expected on Defence, Oil Trade, and Global Issues

Putin will take part in the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit with PM Modi on Friday. Key areas expected in the discussions include:

  • Defence cooperation and new military agreements
  • Energy partnerships, including India’s continued purchase of Russian oil
  • Global issues such as the Ukraine conflict and Afghanistan
  • Plans to deepen the India-Russia Strategic Partnership

Putin will receive a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, lay a wreath at Rajghat, hold talks at Hyderabad House, address the press, attend a business event, and later meet President Droupadi Murmu.

As Delhi hosts one of the most significant diplomatic visits of the year, commuters have been urged to follow the advisory closely for a smoother travel experience.
