To boost metro connectivity, the Sonipat-Delhi metro work is rapidly moving to complete the project before 2028. This is the fourth phase of Delhi Metro connectivity, which will facilitate thousands of commuters travelling from Delhi to Sonipat and vice versa.
Land Acquisition Issue
There will be two metro stations at Kundli and Nathupur in Sonipat. However, due to land acquisition and technical issues, the project is getting delayed and may not meet the expected deadline. Officials said efforts are underway to address the situation. After the completion of the project, the traffic from Sonipat to Delhi and vice versa will not be impacted as thousands of people will prefer to travel in the metro.
Resolve The Issue
Recently, Principal Advisor of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), DS Dhesi, had conducted a meeting with the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and local district administration to address the issue. He instructed the officials to resolve the issues as soon as possible to prevent any delay.
Station
There will be 21 stations between Sonipat and Delhi in a stretch of 26.5 kilometre. The starting point will be Rithala, and the metro line will extend to Nathupur, Rohini, Bawana, and Narela. The complete list of stations includes Rithala, Rohini Sector 25, Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, etc.
The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 6.230 crore, in which Rs 5,685.22 crore is allocated for the Delhi stretch and Rs 546.77 crore for the Haryana stretch. 80 per cent of the amount is funded by the state and 20 by the central government.
According to officials, the project will benefit the decongestion of traffic from the Sonipat to Delhi route and benefit more than 50,000 daily commuters.
