Delhi: Several students were injured in a clash between two groups that allegedly broke out at Jamia Millia Islamia late on Friday night. However, there is no immediate statement from the University administration on the fight as of now. Additionally, there are no reports of complaints filed at the police station regarding the incident.
Five To Six Students Rushed To Hospital
According to reports, at least five to six injured students were admitted to the MA Ansari Health Centre for medical treatment and were later discharged. The incident reportedly occurred near JMI Gate No. 7, and by 11 pm on Thursday, tension flared between the group of students. Stones and bricks were believed to have been thrown during the violent confrontation.
About The Violent Altercation
The tensions escalated after a minor altercation in which a student from Mewat was allegedly attacked by a group of students from Bihar. In response, a set of students from Mewat entered the hostel and allegedly assaulted the Bihar and UP students. Following this, both groups engaged in another round of violence near Gate No.7. However, there is no confirmation of the clash from the police or JMI.
Security Deployed At The Campus
As the students clashed with each other, the university security personnel tried to intervene and control the situation. Additionally, security was beefed up in front of the University in the wake of the incident.
