Delhi Car Blast: Will Lal Quila metro station open soon? Here’s what DMRC says

After the deadly blast near the Red Fort on November 10, which claimed at least 10 lives and left several injured, Delhi continues to remain on high alert. The explosion, believed to have come from a car parked near the monument, has sparked serious security concerns in one of the city’s most sensitive areas. Investigations are still underway, and authorities have tightened surveillance across central and north Delhi, especially around heritage sites and major transport hubs.

In view of heightened security, Lal Quila Metro Station will remain closed till further notice. The decision was taken “due to security reasons,” as confirmed by DMRC on its official social media handle. All entry and exit gates at the station will remain shut until further notice, while metro trains on the Violet Line will continue to run normally and skip the station.

What about other Metro Stations?

DMRC said that except for Lal Quila, all other metro stations are working as usual. People travelling in the Old Delhi area are advised to use nearby stations like Jama Masjid or Delhi Gate to avoid trouble.

Extra security staff have been deployed at metro stations, and officials are carrying out random bag checks and passenger screenings for safety.

Alternative Metro Stations for Commuters

Since Lal Quila Metro Station remains closed, passengers are advised to use the following nearby stations:

  • Jama Masjid Metro Station (Violet Line)
  • Delhi Gate Metro Station (Violet Line)
  • Chandni Chowk Metro Station (Yellow Line)

Passengers are advised to plan their travel in advance and allow extra time, as there may be route changes and security checks around the Red Fort area.
