After the horrific car blast incident that shook Delhi, the fervent vigilance of the police led them to question the presence and controlling powers behind Al Falah University previously, situated in the Muslim-majority Dhooj village. The campus of the university spreads over an area of around 76 acres. After the recent arrest of three doctors involved in the development of terrorist agendas and the discovery of a white-collar terrorist module, the university has come into the limelight. The police have been on high alert to understand how such universities have become the epicentre for extremists working in affiliation with terrorist groups.
Haryana Private University Act
As per the university website, it was established under the Haryana Vidhan Sabha University Act. The university started in the year 1997 as an engineering college. In 2013, Al Falah University was registered under the UGC, and the Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) gave it an ‘A’ category ranking. In 2014, the Haryana Government accredited the college as a university. It now also has a full-fledged medical branch as well.
According to experts, in its early years, Al Falah University emerged as a promising alternative to Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia for minority students. The MBBS program began in 2019, and 40% of the university’s doctors are from Kashmir.
Professor (Dr.) Mohammad Parvez is the current Registrar of Al Falah University. Dr. Bhupinder Kaur Anand is its Vice-Chancellor. The university has different institutions under its umbrella, including the Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology, and Al Falah School of Education and Training.
