Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) data indicates that this decreasing trend will extend northwards, providing gradual relief from heatwave conditions starting from May 30.

At 2:30 pm, the weather station in Delhi’s Mungeshpur recorded the highest temperature ever in India, reaching 52.3 degrees Celsius. Amid the heatwave, the national capital experienced its highest ever power demand, reaching 8,302 megawatts (MW), as more residents turned on power-intensive air-conditioning, according to electricity department officials.

Other areas that reported extremely high temperatures are both in the desert state of Rajasthan 51 degrees Celsius in Phalodi and 50.8 degrees Celsius elsewhere. Sirsa in Haryana recorded a temperature of 50.3 degrees Celsius.

During the record-breaking temperature, the city’s power demand also reached its highest ever level at 8,302 megawatts (MW) on Wednesday afternoon.

A drop of up to 4 degrees Celsius was recorded today in the southern Rajasthan districts of Barmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Sirohi, and Jalore due to the incursion of moist winds from the Arabian Sea, indicating the beginning of a reduction in the heatwave over northwest India.

Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) data, which utilizes computer models to process current weather observations for future forecasts, suggests that this decreasing trend will extend northwards, bringing gradual relief from heatwave conditions starting May 30. Additionally, the incursion of moist winds from the Bay of Bengal, beginning Thursday, is expected to cause a gradual drop in maximum temperatures over Uttar Pradesh.
