New Delhi: Delhi Police on Thursday filed a chargesheet against Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Brij Bhusan Sharan Singh in an alleged sexual harassment case labelled by female wrestlers.
Delhi Police, in 550 pages cancellation report also requested the court to withdraw POSCO act against the accused as they did not find any truth behind the allegation labelled by minor wrestlers.
The Police filed two chargesheet against the former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief in separate courts. In Rouse Avenue court Delhi Police filed a chargesheet related to complaints registered by 6 Adult wrestlers while Police filed another chargesheet pertaining to complaints registered by minor wrestlers in Patiala court.
Delhi Police said that after completion of the investigation in the POCSO case, we have submitted a police report under Section 173 CrPC requesting to quash the case based on the statements of the complainant which includes. father of the minor victim and the victim herself.
Delhi Police PRO Suman Nalwa informed that we have filed a charge sheet against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh under sections 354, 354-A and D and against Vinod Tomar under sections 109, 354, 354 (A), 506. We have filed a cancellation report under POCSO under the statement of the complainant and the alleged accused.
At the same time, on the charge sheet against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on charges of sexual harassment, Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava says that the charge sheet has been filed under sections 354, 354D, 354A and 506 (1) of the IPC.
Earlier, The Centre assured protesting wrestlers that the police investigation will be completed by June 15 and asked them not to stage protests until then.
This came after ace wrestlers Sakshee Malikhh and Bajrang Punia met Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur at the latter’s residence earlier in the day after the former called them for talks amidst the ongoing demand of arresting Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
