New Delhi: After the Delhi ordinance bill passed in Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is all set to table the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, in Rajya Sabha on August 7. Earlier on August 3, the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, also known as the Delhi Service Bill, was successfully passed in the Lok Sabha. However, this success was accompanied by a huge ruckus created by the opposition, resulting in opposition MPs walking out of the House in protest against the bill. Read more: Top 15 points of Delhi Ordinance Bill  The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, grants the Central Government the power to make rules related to the affairs of Delhi’s government, including the functions, terms, and conditions of service for officers and employees. Union Home Minister Amit Shah initiated the debate on the Delhi Services Bill in Parliament on August 1. He appealed to the opposition leaders to consider the interests of Delhi, regardless of their political affiliations or alliances. Shah emphasized that the bill should not be used as a political tool to secure election victories or gain support from any party. During the voting process in Lok Sabha, the opposition caused disruptions, with AAP’s lone Lok Sabha MP, Sushil Kumar Rinku, tearing papers belonging to the ruling party’s MPs. As a consequence of his actions, Sushil Kumar has been suspended for the entire session. Delhi CM Kejriwal alleged that this bill is passed to enslave the people of the national capital. Taking the matter to Twitter, Kejriwal wrote, “Today in the Lok Sabha, I heard Amit Shah ji speaking on the bill which snatches away the rights of the people of Delhi. They do not have a single valid argument to support the bill. Just talking nonsense here and there. They also know that they are doing wrong.”
