Delhi: A night of terror unfolded at Kanch Club in Jhilmil Industrial Area, Delhi on Thursday, September 5, 2024, when four armed men opened fire outside the nightclub. The incident, captured on CCTV, has left the community in shock and triggered a large-scale manhunt by Delhi Police to catch the attackers.

Attack After Refusal Of Free Entry

The attack reportedly started when the youths asked for free entry into the nightclub. One of the attackers, identified as Tanish, whipped out a pistol and asked for free access to the club. When they were refused by the bouncers, among whom was also a female bouncer, things turned ugly in a flash. The attackers asked the bouncers to kneel and threatened them, but the bouncers refused to give in.
Enraged by the refusal, the four men, who included Tanish and another identified suspect by the name of Shahrukh, started firing outside the club. While two of the miscreants have been identified, the other two are not known yet. It was thus termed as an intimidation attack, possibly related to an extortion attempt.

Attackers Open Fire, Panic Ensues

The CCTV footage shows three of them entering the club while one is still outside threatening the bouncers,’ The Bouncer said that after a few minutes, two of them started firing into the air and caused panic among people both inside and outside the club. According to eyewitness accounts, over a dozen bullets were fired before the attackers fled.
One of the horrific scenes involved the attackers holding a pistol to the head of the female bouncer, adding even more terror to the situation.

Police Response And Ongoing Manhunt

The police recovered eight empty bullet shells and two cartridges from the site of the shooting. After recovering them, the police registered a case under the Arms Act at Seemapuri police station and initiated a manhunt for suspects. So far, police have identified two of the attackers, while two others are still being pursued by them.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the attack might be linked to a demand for extortion money from the club. Further details are still being gathered.

Community In Shock

Residents and visitors to the area are still shaken after the incident, and the nightclub has not been opened since the police started their investigation. The attack that was pulled off with such audacity in the busy area has brought into question the security of various other areas of public gatherings and nightclubs within the city.

Increased Security In Delhi

The local authorities are reinforcing security in the area following the incident to avoid a recurrence of similar incidents. Increased police patrols and nightclubs are counseled on more security precautions to safeguard not only their clientele but also their club employees.

As the investigation unfolds, Delhi Police is still bringing all four attackers to justice. Society is waiting for a resolution to come as soon as possible, and this appalling act of violence put the whole nightclub industry of Delhi on high alert. Meanwhile, the authorities have called upon the people with information about the suspects to help in ongoing investigations.
