Delhi AQI Live: A thick blanket of toxic smog covered large parts of Delhi early Saturday, sharply reducing visibility and pushing air pollution levels into the severe category. Several areas across the national capital woke up to hazy conditions as air quality continued to worsen, raising health concerns for residents.
Air quality slips to ‘severe’ levels
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has enforced all measures under GRAP Stage-IV across Delhi-NCR after a sudden deterioration in air quality. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed the Air Quality Index (AQI) at Rao Tularam Marg touching 403, firmly placing it in the “severe” category. Similar conditions were reported in several other parts of the city, with pollution levels remaining dangerously high. Authorities have urged people, especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues, to limit outdoor activities.
Flight advisory issued as visibility drops
Dense fog and smog also impacted visibility in the early morning hours. Delhi International Airport Ltd issued an advisory at 6:10 am, stating that Low Visibility Procedures were in place due to poor visibility. While flight operations were continuing normally, passengers were advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines as delays could not be ruled out. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Saturday, warning of adverse weather conditions. Officials said the situation would continue to be closely monitored, with further action possible if pollution levels remain high.
