Delhi AQI Live Updates: Delhi remained shrouded in a thick layer of smog on Monday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 498, placing it in the severe pollution category. Out of 40 air quality monitoring stations in the capital, 38 reported severe air quality, while two stations recorded very poor levels. Jahangirpuri was the most polluted area, with an AQI of 498.
Air Quality Remains in Severe Category
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between 401 and 500 is classified as severe, while levels between 301 and 400 fall under the very poor category. AQI readings below 200 are considered moderate or better. Delhi’s air quality had already deteriorated on Sunday, when the AQI reached 461, marking the most polluted day of the current winter season and the second-worst December air quality on record. Unfavourable weather conditions, such as weak winds and low temperatures, have worsened the situation by trapping pollutants near the ground.
Wazirpur Records Maximum AQI
The Wazirpur air quality monitoring station recorded the highest possible AQI reading of 500 during the day, which is the upper limit measured by the CPCB.
