Delhi-NCR Weather: Are Schools Open Today, December 16? Check Online and Hybrid Classes for Class 5 to 11

Due to Delhi’s deteriorating air quality and implementation of GRAP Stage 4, the government has shifted Classes 1-5 online, Classes 6-9 and 11 to hybrid mode, while Classes 10 and 12 will continue with regular in-person schooling.

Amid the enforcement of Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP 4) in the national capital, the Delhi government has ordered that all classes up to Standard 5 shift to online mode. In a notification issued on December 15, the Delhi Directorate of Education announced that in-person classes for students from nursery to Class 5 in all government, government-aided, and private unaided schools will be suspended until further notice.

Here's what circular states

“In view of the prevailing high AQI levels in Delhi, it has been decided that classes in physical mode for students of Nursery to Class V are discontinued till further orders for all Government, Government Aided and Unaided Private Recognised Schools of Delhi. All Heads of Schools are hereby directed to ensure classes in online mode for the students of these classes," as per the circular issued on December 15.

Classes 6-10 and 11 to Continue in Hybrid Mode

For students in Classes 6 and above, the previous directive for hybrid learning will remain in effect. According to the notification, classes for Grades 6-9 and Class 11 will operate in a hybrid mode, while board students in Classes 10 and 12 will continue with a regular in-person schedule.

Poor Air Quality Triggers GRAP Stage 4 in Delhi

On Sunday, December 13, the Delhi Directorate of Education announced that under GRAP Stage 4 regulations, schools must conduct classes up to Grade 9 and Class 11 in hybrid mode due to the deteriorating air quality and high pollution levels in the city. The circular further stated that students of Classes 10 and 12 will continue attending regular in-person classes at schools.
