After the air quality in Delhi NCR further deteriorated, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has decided to invoke Stage III of the GRAP with effect from 8: am on November 15. Besides, all actions under Stages I and II to prevent further deterioration of air quality in the national capital region will remain in force.
Online Classes
The administration has also decided to shut down call classes up to standard V for primary school students, in government and private schools. These classes will have to shift online after the respective governments issue orders.
Ban On Construction Activities
Besides, construction and demolition activities that generate dust will also be banned, with exceptions to the activities to build projects like metro, railways, and linear public projects like highways, roads, and flyovers.
Restrictions On BS III Four-Wheelers
The administration has also put restrictions on running BS III petrol and BS IV diesel-operated four-wheelers in Delhi and the districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Budh Nagar.
These decisions were taken after Delhi’s 24-hour average air quality on Thursday recorded at 4 pm was 424 AQI. It was in the ‘severe’ category.
