Ministry of Civil Aviation officials visited Airport Operations Control Centre

Earlier, airport officials had stated that a total of 68 flights were cancelled and 5 flights were diverted to other airports due to the fog.

Around 2 PM, the airport had stated that runway visibility had improved and flight operations were returning to normal, but the dense fog in the morning had affected the entire day’s schedule.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation visited the Airport Operations Control Centre and reviewed real-time operations.

The ministry and airlines clarified that safety is the top priority in seasonal conditions like fog, therefore several flights were rescheduled. Due to a backlog of delayed flights, it is taking time to fully restore normal operations.

IndiGo issues advisory

Airline IndiGo has issued an advisory stating that dense fog is affecting visibility at airports in North India, including Delhi, leading to delays and schedule changes. Low visibility for an extended period in the morning affected air traffic, and some flights were cancelled to ensure safe operations throughout the day.

IndiGo stated that affected passengers are being informed in advance via WhatsApp and email. Passengers can rebook their flights or claim a refund on the airline’s website. The airline’s teams are closely monitoring visibility conditions.
