Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Nears Major Milestone With Kota Tunnel, Set To Halve Travel Time And Boost Trade

A key highlight of this project is the nearly finished tunnel near Kota, Rajasthan, which is expected to reduce travel time between Gurugram and Vadodara from the current 20 hours to 10 hours.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway stands as one of India’s most ambitious infrastructural project. This is set to improve connectivity between the national capital and the region coming on the route. A key highlight of this project is the nearly finished tunnel near Kota, Rajasthan, which is expected to reduce travel time between Gurugram and Vadodara from the current 20 hours to 10 hours. This substantial reduction is largely attributed to the tunnel’s strategic design and location.

This project is expected to boost the economy of the country and improve the infrastructure of the country. The tunnel near the Mukundra Tiger Reserve has been specially designed to minimize ecological impact, incorporating wildlife-friendly features to protect local biodiversity.

Route And Coverage

This expressway stretches through five states including Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra from Alipur village near Sohna which is situated on the Gurugram outskirts. The entry point serves as an essential access point for all traffic entering from Delhi together with the National Capital Region (NCR).
Special attention was paid by construction reports to the development of the tunnel near Kota to protect the tiger reserve while minimizing any impact on the habitat.

Eco-Conscious Tunnel Construction

Estimated at over Rs 1 lakh crore, the expressway is initially being built as an eight-lane road, with provisions to expand it to twelve lanes in the future to meet growing traffic demands. This will make the travel smoother and easier for the commuters.
