Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai writes to Chief Secretary Dharmendra, urging him about the strict enforcement of GRAP seeing the poor air quality in Delhi.
Minister Gopal Rai points the need for the effort imposed in coordinated way for to implement the winter action plan 2024.
He mentioned in the letter that, “”I feel that we have to ensure strict implementation of GRAP guidelines and all departments must rigorously implement the measures outlined under GRAP without exception. This included restricting vehicular emissions, controlling construction dust, and curbing industrial pollution and all other actions as proposed and directed during various meetings taken in order to implement Winter Action Plan-2024.”

He further added that, “The collective efforts of all departments are crucial to safeguarding the health and well-being of Delhi’s citizens. I urge you to personally oversee the coordination and execution of these measures. Let us ensure that the recent improvements in air quality are sustained and further enhanced.”
He stated that, “All departments must submit daily report on their actions and progress in implementing GRAP guidelines.” He mentions that these data collected by following this will be critical for monitoring the effectiveness of measures and help in identifying the region which require additional focus.
Supreme Court Slams Delhi Government And Police
Supreme Court has directed Delhi government and police to check the checkpoints on 113 entry points for Delhi. The court points out that 100 entry way for Delhi are unmanned and there is no one to check the entry of trucks.
The apex court mentioned that despite the order passed by us and CAQM, police and the Delhi government fails to comply with clauses under the GRAP Stage IV.
