Delhi Metro To Deploy Extra Standby Trains, Run Online Ticket Counters To Manage Passenger Rush On Raksha Bandhan

Commuters are encouraged to use mobile apps for digital tickets to avoid long queues and ensure smooth travel.

In view of the expected rise in passengers on the day of Raksha Bandhan, falling on Monday, August 19, 2024, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has come up with some plans. The DMRC shall make available additional standby trains along various metro routes to ensure hassle-free travel. These extra trains shall be pressed into service depending on the crowd.

Apart from increasing the frequency, DMRC will also increase the number of staff across various metro stations. These would man extra ticket counters to cope with the rush. Guards and CFAs will be provided at major stations to help and guide passengers about the crowd so that everybody can move through easily in the festive day.

Skip the Queues: Go Digital with Delhi Metro

DMRC is also appealing to commuters to purchase QR tickets online through mobile apps like DMRC MOMENTUM 2.O, WhatsApp, Paytm, One Delhi, and Amazon. This would spare people from standing in long queues at the ticket counters. Alternatively, passengers can buy National Common Mobility Cards or Smart Cards from customer care centers available in the stations.

These are the preparations that the DMRC is doing to ensure that everyone can travel without problems on Raksha Bandhan. Passengers can travel hassle-free with the help of digital ticketing facilities and extra services in place so that no delay is experienced in any regard. Additional trains and support staff, as part of a better travel experience initiative, are being taken out by the DMRC, especially on days of busy festivals.
