The first metro train with six coaches arrived in Delhi for operations of phase 4 of Delhi Metro. This marks a milestone in completion of priority corridors of Delhi Metro Phase-4, according to an official release. The set of train was inaugurated on September 23 in presence of DMRC and Alstom delegates. This six cars was manufactured at Alstom’s Rolling Stock facility in Sricity located near Chennai. The Train is at Mukundpur depot of Delhi Metro.
According to RS-17 contract, DMRC will be getting a total of 312 Metro coaches for its phase 4. There will be total 52 trains for the phase 4 corridor. This will include Majlis Park to Maujpur, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg and Tughlakabad to Delhi Aerocity. The delivery of the trains will happen in phases in the coming months, the release mentioned.
Allocation Of Coaches To Different Corridors
Out of the 312 coaches, 234 will be for the extended sections of Pink line and Magenta line, which will be covering route of Majlis Park to Maujpur and Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. The rest 78 coaches will be for Tughlakabad to Delhi Aerocity route.
All these trains will offer driverless service to the commuters. The project supports the Government of India”s Make in India Programme. The train will carry speed of 95km/h and the operational speed of 85km/h.
The Janakpuri West to RK Puram Marg extension will receive total 24 trains (144 coaches). The Mukundpur-Maujpur extension of the pink line will be getting 15 trains (90 coaches). From Aerocity to Tughlakabad, the golden corridor, will be getting 13 trains (78 coaches).
Under this phase 4 project, DMRC is constructing 86 km of the new lines across five different routes. Three routes from Janakpuri West to RK Puram Marg, Majlis Park to Maujpur and Aerocity to Tughlakabad are under construction. The other two routes which includes Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block and Indraprastha to Inderlok are in pre-tendering stage.
According to the a release by government, Delhi metro operates in 391 km distance, with 286 stations, which include Noida and Greater Noida corridor & the Rapid Metro, Gurugram.
