Delhi Metro will soon announce major news about the extension. DMRC’s Phase 4 Metro Corridor work is almost complete. The Krishna Park Extension Corridor from Janakpuri West is set to open in August, with metro service expected to start two months later. DMRC plans to open three corridors, adding 65 km of new lines for passengers. The goal of this new project is to improve connectivity and reduce passenger congestion.
On Sunday, July 1, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced its goal to open all three corridors of the fourth phase extension by 2026. This extension will add 65 km of new lines.
DMRC stated that work on the fourth phase of the extension began in December 2019 but was delayed. Progress was hindered for nearly three years from 2020 to 2022 due to the Covid pandemic and delays in obtaining tree-cutting permits. The railway operator has been working for the past 18 months to two years and aims to complete the project by 2026.
Currently, over 50 percent of the work on all three corridors is finished. About 80 percent of the civil work on the Majlis Park-Maujpur section is complete. Tunneling is underway on various sections of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad (Golden Line) and Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg (Magenta Line) corridors. This expansion will greatly improve the Delhi Metro and offer better facilities to passengers.
