Preparations are underway for the inauguration of the Sahibabad section of the Rapid Rail. The new route will start from Sahibabad and will go till New Ashok Nagar.
According to media reports, the new section of the Rapid Rail is likely to get inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is the fourth section of the Delhi-Meerut rapid rail that will be opened. It will connect the route to the Meerut. The entire route will get operational in 2025.
On Thursday, December 26, DM Indra Vikram Singh visited the Sahibabad rapid rail station. While, the official date for this is yet to be announced. For security, the police have implemented section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita in the district. According to NCRTC officials, the trials are underway on the 13-km section of the route, as per media reports.
As quoted by The Times of India, The NCRTC officials mentioned that, “Of the 13km stretch from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar, a 6km section from Vaishali via Anand Vihar before New Ashok Nagar is underground, and the remaining 7 km is on an elevated section. With the launch, two more stations, Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar, will be added to the operational section.”

Overview of the Three Operational Sections
The section connecting Sahibabad to Duhai got operation is October 2023. The length of this part is 17-Km. Similarly, The another section who’s length is also 17-Km, connects Duhai to Modinagar got operation in March, 2024.
Also, the 8-Km stretch connecting Modinagar North to Meerut South got operation in August 2024.
