New Delhi: A 45-year-old man was apprehended for purportedly murdering a co-worker. The man resorted to killing her when she asked him to return the money that she had loaned him, said the police on Thursday.
The accused identified as Mohammad Zakir, technical supervisor at Nizamuddin Railway Station, allegedly stabbed her in the neck several times. Subsequently, to hide her identity, he poured acid on her face.
The victim, who was a clerk at a railway station, had taken personal loans in 2018 and 2019 and lent the money to the accused. The officials added that her body was recovered near Sector 148 Metro Station by Greater Noida police on Saturday.
On September 8, the victim’s daughter complained about her missing mother. On the following day, the daughter, in addition to other family members went to Ambedkar Nagar police station and lodged a missing report, a senior police officer said. The Knowledge Park police station of Greater Noida (UP) called them around 8 PM on September 9 and informed the daughter about her mother’s death, the officer added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shares What Happened
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chandan Chowdhary said that while investigating the case, the officials discovered the victim was stressed out as Zakir had not returned her money. The information gathered on September 8, as a result of the inquest revealed that the woman left her office around 2 PM. Meanwhile, Zakir was on leave. The officials tried to trace his mobile phone. However, it was found switched off.
Upon finding the location of the suspect, the officials conducted rade for over 20 years at over 60 locations of Subhash Vihar before apprehending the Zakir.
Zaqir disclosed during the probe that the reason why he planned to kill her was because she was pressurising him to return her money.
Thus, he took her to Knowledge Park, Noida and allegedly stabbed her with an iron dagger. Subsequently, he threw acid on her face and body to hide her identity. To cover his tracks, he further hid the weapon and acid near the bushes of an electric pole at Sector 148, Noida, added the official.
