New Delhi: A 29-year-old man, Harneet Singh Sachdeva, was killed in the early hours of Wednesday in Delhi following an altercation at a local eatery over a delayed food order, police reported. Sachdeva was allegedly beaten and stabbed with kebab skewers. Three individuals, including the owners of the eatery and a staff member, have been arrested in connection with the incident, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer.
Altercation Over Delayed Order
The incident unfolded when Sachdeva visited a dhaba (roadside eatery) early Wednesday morning and placed an order. As the order was delayed, Sachdeva got into a heated argument with the staff. In response, the staff called the eatery’s owners, Ketan and Ajay Narula, who arrived at the scene with others. A physical fight ensued, during which Sachdeva was assaulted with kebab skewers.
Victim Declared Dead at Hospital
After the attack, Sachdeva was found by his friends, who were passing by and spotted his scooter near the eatery. They immediately rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Victim’s Family Seeks Justice
Sachdeva’s mother, in an emotional appeal, demanded justice for her son, expressing her grief and highlighting that his wife is pregnant. “What was my son’s fault that they killed him? We want justice for my child,” she told reporters.
Locals Raise Concerns Over Late-Night Operations
Residents of Rajouri Garden, where the incident occurred, have raised concerns about the market area, which they operate until the early morning hours, leading to frequent altercations and disturbances. Police are also investigating the legality of the eatery’s late-night operations.
