A United Kingdom national woman filed a rape and sexual harassment case against two Delhi-based men on Tuesday, said police, adding that a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered and the suspects were arrested.

Police said that the woman, who hails from the United Kingdom, alleged that she came in contact with a Delhi man through a social media platform. After friendship, she came to meet the man in Delhi.

When the woman, who booked a hotel in Mahipalpur in Delhi, arrived, the man went to meet her. The woman alleged that during the conversation the man tried to touch her inappropriately, which triggered a fight between them.

Police said the woman stated in her complaint that she was raped by the man, and she somehow managed to flee out of the room. When she was near reception, her social media friend’s accomplice came, and he took her to a room. It was also alleged that the woman was sexually harassed by a man in the lift.

On the complaint of the victim, a case was registered at a police station in Delhi. Officers said they have also informed the Delhi high commission about the incident. Further investigation is underway.
