A Kashmiri student was molested by a man outside the gate of Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University. The girl resisted the man’s misdeed, which he expressed as innocence. The incident reportedly took place on April 27 near 9:30 pm.
Video of the incident went viral
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the clip, the student can be seen accusing the man of molestation as a few bystanders nabbed him. The Jamia administration was informed about the incident and subsequently alerted the police.
Police took the accused into custody
A police team rushed to the spot, and took the man into custody and brought him to the police station.
Upon receiving the complaint from the student, the police registered an FIR against the man under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Man uses minor niece, fake thumb in Rs 5 crore extortion plot
In a separate incident, Delhi Police have busted a bizarre extortion plot where a man allegedly used his minor niece and a fake human thumb to demand Rs five crore from his acquaintance. Delhi Police said that three accused have been apprehended, including one juvenile in the case.
The case was registered on April 16 at Jagatpuri Police Station, invoking Section 308(5) of the BNS.
Complainant reported receiving a suspicious parcel
According to DCP Shahdra Prashant Gautam, the complainant reported receiving a suspicious parcel containing a threatening letter, a smartwatch, and a human-like thumb replica in a plastic box delivered by a young girl. Recognising the gravity of the matter, a special team was constituted under the supervision of ACP VV and SHO Jagatpuri to crack the case swiftly.
CCTV cameras were meticulously analysed
Over 600 CCTV cameras were meticulously analysed, leading investigators to trace the delivery route and identify the girl involved. The minor, referred to as ‘X’, was apprehended and, following protocols under the Juvenile Justice Act, sent to the Observation Home for Girls at Nirmal Chhaya, Tihar Jail.
