In New Delhi, a 30-year-old domestic worker named Neetu Yadav was arrested on Sunday for stealing gold and silver jewelry valued in the lakhs. Yadav’s motive was to buy a Nikon DSLR camera to create content and reels for her YouTube channel. The Anti-Burglary Cell of the Dwarka District in Delhi Police apprehended her and recovered the stolen items.
The theft was reported by the owner of a bungalow in Dwarka’s upscale neighborhood, who noticed the burglary on July 15. The stolen items included a gold bracelet, a silver chain, and other silver jewelry. The owner had previously suspected the domestic worker, who had been employed at the house shortly before the theft, of being involved in the crime.
When the police tried to contact Neetu Yadav, her mobile phone was off and her address turned out to be false. After reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing locals, the police tracked her down and arrested her while she was attempting to flee Delhi with a bag.

During questioning, Neetu revealed that she was originally from Rajasthan and had come to Delhi to escape her drug-addicted husband and the abuse she faced. She started working as a domestic worker in various bungalows in Delhi.
Neetu had also launched a YouTube channel and began creating Instagram reels. She received advice to buy a DSLR camera to enhance her videos. However, upon learning that the camera was very expensive, she sought a loan from her relatives, who all refused. While working at the Dwarka bungalow, she discovered valuable jewelry and decided to steal it to fund the purchase of the camera.
