A 24-year-old Delhi woman was allegedly gangraped by four men at a party in North Delhi’s Civil Lines on Sunday night, the police detailed on Tuesday. The police further added that a case has been filed and a manhunt has been initiated to arrest the accused, who have been absconding.
According to a Hindustan Times report, a senior police officer said that on Monday, a woman employed with a Gurugram-based firm alleged that she was gangraped by four men at a party after consuming alcohol.
As per the complaint filed by the victim, she had received a call from a male friend on Sunday, inviting her to a party at a friend’s house in Civil Lines. She accepted the invitation and went to the house on Hill Road.
There, she met her friends, another acquaintance, and two other men. All of them drank and partied till late at night, and as per the victim, sometime during the night her drink was spiked and she became semi-conscious. She further alleged that the four men took her to the washroom and gangraped her. “The woman said that she was thrashed by the suspects and also filmed in the act.” Beyond that, the officer said that they had allegedly threatened to upload the video on social media if she reported the matter to the police.
The accused in the matter dropped the woman off outside her house and left. The woman then called the police and reported the matter. A woman officer attended the call and took her for medical examination. Based on the complaint, a rape case was registered, and an investigation was taken up.
A similar incident has been reported from the Mundka police station, where a 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man on the pretext of finding her a job. The matter was reported to the Mundka police station on Monday.
The police said that the woman told investigators she lived with her husband and children in Bengaluru and left for Delhi to escape her husband’s assaults. On Sunday, the man came to her rented accommodation and forced himself on the woman. When the alleged miscreant had left, the matter was reported to the police.
