Who Will Be Eligible For This Scheme?

As per reports, this scheme will cover: Women in the age group of 18 to 60 years. Women belonging to households having an annual income below Rs 3 lakh. Those who don’t pay income tax. Women who don’t hold government jobs or get any other governmental financial support.

The BJP had promised this in its manifesto before the Delhi Assembly Elections, which stated that if it were elected, Rs 2500 would be provided to women in Delhi each month. Victory for the BJP in the Delhi elections In the February 5 Assembly Elections, the BJP emerged victorious by winning 48 seats out of a total of 70, ending a 10-year rule of AAP in the national capital as AAP only managed to win 22 seats, failing to retain power.

The Delhi government is putting up an online portal for registrations besides developing software for verification and eligibility checks. An integration of data from various departments is on the cards to figure out genuine beneficiaries, said the IT department.

The BJP’s Mahila Samriddhi Scheme is somewhat similar to cash transfer schemes in place in other BJP-run states, such as: ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ in Madhya Pradesh. ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ in Maharashtra. This scheme is also seen as a counter to the AAP’s ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’, under which the party promised Rs 2,100 per month for women in case it was re-elected.
